Description: This position performs routine cleaning at Public Works, Landfill, City/County Building, and Public Health buildings. Job duties include but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing hallways burnishing or polishing floors and stairways, dusting and wiping furniture, disinfecting common areas, washrooms, locker rooms, kitchen areas and replenishing supplies, among others. Empties and cleans trash receptacles and recycling containers. Loads and unloads custodial supplies; stocks and organizes custodial storage area.

Examples of Duties

Cleans, sanitizes, and details restrooms and locker rooms; refills dispensers; stocks supplies; wipes and disinfects all surfaces.

Dusts and wipes furniture and fixtures.

Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors; strips, cleans, waxes and buffs floors.

Empties and cleans trash receptacles.

Loads and unloads supplies; stocks and organizes storage area.

Assists in setting up and reconfiguring meeting room; moves furniture.

Assists with minor electrical and plumbing repairs.

Assist with snow removal operations.

Cuts grass and maintains landscaping around city buildings.

Identifies and reports maintenance needs to supervisor.

Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
